Alhaurin

Alhaurín el Grande is a Spanish municipality in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalucía. It is located in the center-south of the province, within the region of the Guadalhorce Valley and the judicial district of Coín. Its municipal area occupies an area of 73.1 km² that extends along the northern slope of the Sierra de Mijas and the fertile plain of the Guadalhorce River, where citrus and other orchard crops alternate with orchards. The population reaches 24,751 inhabitants, according to data from the 2017 Census. It is bordered by Coín, Cártama, Alhaurín de la Torre and Mijas.

Alhaurín de la Torre is a city and Spanish municipality of the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalucía. It is located 18 km from the provincial capital, in the region of the Guadalhorce Valley and in turn within the Metropolitan Area.

The municipality covers an area of 82 km² between the Sierra de Mijas and the Hoya de Málaga, and is crossed by the Guadalhorce River. It is the most populated municipality in the Guadalhorce region and the second in the interior of the province, with 38,794 inhabitants, according to the 2016 INE census. Alhaurín de la Torre experienced a remarkable population increase in the 90s due to the the expansion of the Metropolitan Area of Malaga.

The climate of Alhaurin is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters without snow, except sometimes in the mountains. The temperatures are benign, with 18°C on average and more than 320 days of sunshine per year (2920 hours / sun per year on average). Some summer, they have reached over 40 ° C on several occasions. The precipitations are usually scarce but torrential, with an average of 550l/m².

Alhaurín Golf is one of the most spectacular golf courses in Spain. It consists of 18 holes par 72, designed by the legendary player Severiano Ballesteros and 9 holes par 3, with excellent views of the Sierra de Mijas and the Mediterranean Sea.

The main course is located on an uneven terrain, which gives it a great personality, which added to the original design of the great Severiano Ballesteros, make it a challenge for the good player and a great entertainment for the middle and high handicaps.
